Math Assistance

We've had a few parents ask for some help at home when their child has math questions. Everyday math continues to impress us from a teachers perspective but we can see how things get challenging at home. We don't teach the way that we used to learn!

Here are a few suggestions...
1. Use the family letter which is printed right in the study link packet. It has vocabulary, description of the unit, etc. We also sent home an answer key at the beginning of unit 6.
2. Have your child bring home their Student Reference Book. The pages to refer to are listed in the small book located in the top right hand corner of the study link or journal page.
3. Log onto Everyday Math Online (link is located on the right hand side of the blog!). Your son/daughter has a login and password. This will give you access to an online student reference book. Pages numbers are exactly the same as the print copy. If you need us to send home the login and password again, please let us know.
4. Trust your child! If they are using a method that looks a little foreign to you, trust that they are learning. They may not be proficient yet, and may need a little more help, but they are somewhere on the learning spectrum and with a little more time and practice they'll be successful!

If none of this seems to help, please let your child know that we will work with them the next day in school. We are there early most every day so if your child wants to pop in before school just send us an email the night before and we will confirm that we'll be there. Please check in the morning for that confirmation! We're more than happy to help.
