Preparing for the Southeast Region Quiz

We played a matching game to help us prepare for the Southeast Region quiz scheduled for February 9th. Students will have to identify the 12 SE states on the US map and know their capitals and abbreviations! Good luck studying, fourth graders!

Another Role Play!

We had another group share their "forgiveness" role play with us today! Great job!

Crawford Friday Three Minute Timings

Each Friday, we take a three-minute timing on our basic multiplication or division facts. We have made great progress on these timings since the beginning of the year! Some of us are working on division timings now, too! Great job fourth graders! The automatic recall of these facts will only help with the more difficult concepts to come this year and in future years, too!

Latitude and Longitude in Math?

This afternoon we learned about a "coordinate grid" on a globe... the lines of latitude and lines of longitude! With yesterday's learning of plotting ordered pairs on a coordinate grid, today's lesson was a snap!

Keystone Role Plays About Forgiveness!

The students shared their role plays about forgiveness with the class today! We have some acting talent in this room! There were great messages within the role plays, too! Well done, fourth graders!

Another great day of authors sharing their writing and some authors asking for suggestions! Congratulations to Jorie, Riley, Jack S., Drew, Anthony, Jessica A., Ben, Tom, and Robbie!

A special visit!

Mrs. Dupee and new baby Norah visited today! Big sister Olivia came along, too! It was so fun to have Mrs. Dupee come in... we miss her so much, but know that her baby needs her at home right now! Thanks for stopping in, Mrs. Dupee!

Measuring Angles

We have been busy learning about angles in math most recently! There are four angles that we have learned about: acute (angles less than 90 degrees), right (90 degree angles), obtuse (angles measuring between 90 - 180 degrees), and reflex (angles more than 90 degrees) angles. We worked with a circle protractor first and then began using a half-circle protractor. We will continue to work on mastering on how measure and draw all sorts of angles! Keep up the great work, fourth graders!

Fun Friday

Our class (full of the kindest kids) filled up the levels in the Kindness Fever thermometer so we celebrated today! They got some SWEET tarts because they are "sweet" when they are kind. Also they got some Mike&Ike candies because they are good buddies when they are kind just like Mike&Ike! We did a few kind acts during our celebration, too! Those are surprises for three important people to room 223!

In PE this morning, the students have been having a blast recreating the Winter Olympic events. From my understanding all the students have been assigned a team, a country! Today they were participating in the luge and bobsled timings! What fun!

Our day ended with the Go Cart Challenge! I was most impressed... great sportmanship, great encouragement, and GREAT go-carts! Almost all the go-carts went a distance without being pushed or pulled... and many went over half the ultimate distance of 2 meters.

The Go Cart Fun Continues...

If you were in our classroom at about 3:00 this afternoon, you would have witnessed through your eyes and ears the EXCITEMENT for our go-carts! Today was the last opportunity to work on making the self-propelled go-carts go 2 meters without a push or pull! Tomorrow we will have the challenge - how many of room 223's go-carts will go the distance of 2 meters? Let's hope for all twelve! Tune in tomorrow...
