Testing, Testing, Testing

As some of you may realize our statewide testing begins in a few short weeks. The WKCE (Wisconsin Knowledge & Concepts Examination) will be administered to our fourth graders over a two-three week period of time. This exam is designed to measure our Wisconsin academic standards and it measures achievement in all five academic areas. Use the hyperlink above to learn more about this test.

During the testing window it is very important that your child get enough sleep, coming to school well-rested. A healthy & hearty breakfast is also helpful to ensure that each student is ready to show us what they know. Most testing takes place first thing in the morning, although there are several days where the students have testing in the afternoon as well. Along with that, we'd appreciate if you could avoid pulling your child from school for any sort of appointments. Any test that is missed, must be made up during our makeup window, meaning the child will be pulled from our classroom learning.

A testing schedule should have come in the US mail and we've provided it below as well. Within the next week we will be talking with the class about this test and we'll be discussing good test taking strategies. The students will also have the opportunity to work through practice tests so they are comfortable with the type of questions and format. 11/4: Writing at 10:30 AM, Language Arts at 1:30 PM

11/5: Social Studies at 10:30 AM, Science at 1:30 PM

11/6: Reading at 10:30 AM

11/17-11/20: Math at 10:30 AM

11/21-11/25: Make-up testing
