Today in math we talked about "Rule boxes" or "Fuction Machines." These are charts like the one you see here.

What's My Rule?_______________
The student has to figure out what the rule is. What happens to the number that you input in order to get the output number. For example... The rule for the table above is +2. The student might think it is x2 looking at the first example but they will quickly see in the other examples that doesn't work.
There are many versions of rule boxes. Sometimes students are given the rule and the input numbers but the output numbers are blank, etc. This will continue to come up all year so for those students having difficulty - no worries!!!
