Reading Response Journals

We are entering our third week of reading response paragraphs. Each student has an assigned day they are due. If you are wondering when your child has theirs due please look at an earlier blog where we copied the schedule or send us an email.

We have now posted the weekly journal topic in the assignment notebook portion on the right hand side of the page. That will be updated each Thursday or Friday for the next assignment.

Journal paragraphs need to include the title (underlined) of their book, the author and a topic sentence which clearly states what they'll be writing about. For next week they should be writing connections so it may sound like...

I am reading ________________________ by _______________________. I've made many connections in my book while reading. One of them is...

Students should use as much detail in describing these connections as possible. They may work on it in class one day if they'd like but the remainder must be done at home. It can be handwritten on looseleaf, in their yellow reading notebooks or may be typed as well.

We enjoy reading their paragraphs and responding back to them! Let us know if you have any questions.
