Population Data in Math

Today we used our Student Reference Books to explore population data around the world. We learned some very interesting facts and practiced using what we know about percentages to do so. Here are just a few that stood out:

-In Ethopia, 47% of the population is 14 years and younger
-In Italy, only 14% of the population is 14 years and younger.

-Zimbabwe is the only country where the life expectancy of men is greater than women.
-The life expectancy of a man from Zimbabwe is 39 years old.
-The life expectancyof a man from the United States is 75 years old.

-In Ethiopia, 87% of the population lives rurally (in the country).
-In both Uruguay and Italy, 90% of the population lives in urban areas(in the city).
