Balance Balls

A few classrooms in our school along with Mrs. Brennan, our physical education teacher, have researched and piloted the use of balance balls in the classroom. They have found that along with the wellness benefits, learning has been enhanced.

After learning about the benefits, we would like to offer this opportunity to our students as well. For $9, each student will receive a balance ball and a frisbee (ball holder) to use for the rest of the school year. It will act as a school supply will be sent home at the end of the year. It'll be a great tool to use at home for homework/studying in the future.

This is completely optional. We plan to order a few extra to keep in the room so if you choose not to purchase one for your child they will have a chance to try one of the class balls at some point.

If you are interested in seeing some of the research, please visit either of the websites listed below. In summary the benefits are:

Children . . .
-are less likely to become overweight
-have a decreased risk of developing type two diabetes
-have reduced blood cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure
-have higher self-esteem and reduced incidences of depression and anxiety
-are more likely to build strong bones and muscles
-have better posture
and best of all. . .
-ARE MORE ATTENTIVE IN SCHOOL!!
